Tides Canada Initiatives is accepting applications for charitable initiatives focused on Conservation, Environmental Education and Research, Leadership Development, Civic Engagement and Charitable Capacity Building.
Things We Consider
Applications are evaluated based on three main criteria:
- Mission fit: charitable intent and purpose
- Budget considerations: committed funding and fundraising plan
- Leadership capacity: experience, skills and abilities
Who Can Apply?
Individual social entrepreneurs, small groups who conceive of a charitable idea, community coalitions, or international organizations working in Canada may apply.
TCI can work with you in different ways depending on your status in Canada.
Projects
Your organization, initiative or coalition is an unincorporated entity with has no legal status in Canada. You apply to become a project of TCI and if accepted your work becomes the work of TCI.
Projects should be working with a budget of at least $100,000 in their first year. Charitable Agents should be working with a budget of at least $25,000 per contract.
We do not take on one time events such as charity concerts or conferences.
Will your activities advance TCI's charitable purpose and mission?
Tides Canada Initiatives is dedicated to far-sighted environmental conservation and ecological sustainability initiatives that promote sustainable human systems. Tides Canada Initiatives is looking at root causes of problems and pursing charitable activity paying close attention to, building the capacity of the charitable sector. Tides Canada Initiatives believes that a collaborative approach allows solutions to be sought from many angles. Though most project activities have a particular focus All TCI Projects take into consideration our broader program concerns.
Conservation,
Environmental Education and Research,
Leadership Development,
Civic Engagement,
Charitable Capacity Building.
The description of your activities in the application should address how your activities advance TCI's charitable mission. This is a key determinant in the assessment process.
Do you have committed funding and the ability and capacity to raise funds and other resource necessary to operate your project?
TCI Projects and Agents are self -financing. The budget section of the application asks that you demonstrate where funding is coming from and how much of your funding is in place. If all necessary funding is not committed a well-developed plan to raise the necessary funds must be in place. Committed funding and the financing plan are weighed very heavily in the assessment process.
Have you proven/demonstrated/experience skills and capacity to carry out program activities?
We assess if the leadership of your initiative has the skills expertise and experience to carry out the charitable activities.
